The Space Shuttle
by Scott
There are 6 specially trained astronauts needed for a successful journey to space. Astronauts spend a lot of time training for each voyage. Each journey into space is different and has a different purpose. The 6 different positions are; Commander, Pilot, Mission specialist 1, Mission specialist 2 and 2 flight missioners. They are assigned certain seats in the shuttle along with a job.
The space shuttle can travel really fast!

When the shuttle blasts off, it's connected to the main engine which is the big fuel tank and to boosters A and B. They all drop off during the blast off.

The launch pad is what the shuttle in launched from. It's in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Mission Control is located in Houston, Texas. Mission Control helps the crew when they are in space on a mission.

The space shuttle is very important to N.A.S.A and the U. S. It goes into space for the space station, satellite repairs, and to do many more things.
