Venus
by Andrew
Venus is the second planet from the Sun and the 6th largest. Venus probably once had large amounts of water like Earth but it all boiled away. Venus is now quite dry. Venus is hotter than Mercury even though it is nearly twice as far from the Sun. This is because Venus has a very dense Atmosphere producing a green house effect. Venus has no moons and it is seen in the sky as the brightest star. The US space craft Magellan produced maps of Venus' surface. It showed that much of the surface is covered by lava flows.
